Halloween 2008 - Indian Massacre
This year we decorated our home for Halloween using an Indian Massacre theme. The idea was formulated by my wife and I as we drove home from her 20th High School reunion in California.
Our concept was to have a few of tipi and dead indians laying around our back yard as if they had been attacked and killed by a Bear Spirit. We had an indian war chants CD playing and my friend John made a CD with various bear attack tracks.
As you will see in the photos and videos below there were a number of strobe lights and black lights around the yard and inside the tipi and a graveyard outside of our back yard gate leading the kids into the Indian massacre.
The bowl of candy was in front of the two largest tipi so the trick or treaters had to grab the candy out of the bowl before my wife dressed as a bear / wolf would jump out and scare them as she was hiding behind the largest tipi.
The scooby doo run was in full swing this night as many kids took off running when the bear / wolf jumped out at them (some forgot the candy)!
Below are select pictures and videos from the night.
PS Take some time and study the pictures with the fog in them and look in the upper right and lower right sections of those pictures and tell me if you see some strange looking shapes in the fog like I did!!!!!!!

Indian Massacre Photos

Prepping the backyard.

The beginning of the layout - 1st tipi done.

Truck and our dog.

Our dog - she was not chicken at that time...but once the skulls came out she ran.

Jeannine - the master decorator.

2 Tipi up.

The graveyard leading to the massacre.

Yes this thing was brutal to set up - Jeannine did most of it....I did help....honest.

The truck fully decorated...only thing missing was the stobe behind the skulls.

Massacre scene - day shot.

The wind blew just as I started taking the picture...

Graveyard scene from inside the back gate.

The fog machine being tested.

Dusk - testing the lights.

Night.

Skateboarder - said he wasnt scared...but he never came back in...

Look in the upper right corner of this picture just above the fence - is that a skull in the fog?

Once again look at the upper right corner of this picture....is that an indian face in the fog? See the ghost mask directly to the left of the top of the tipi?

Is that another skull in the fog in the upper right hand side of this picture?

OK someone tell me you dont see the ghost dog in the fog within bottom right hand side of this picture??!!

The mummy was motion activated...it groaned and the eyes moved when you walked by it.

Massacre scene at night.

Glowing pumpkin.

The massacre from behind.

Pumpkin glow on the house.

The bear / wolf...?

Fog machine in full swing.

Shadow of the bear / wolf.

A few kids towards the end of the night. We must have had over 100 kids come through this year. Families came from a mile a way to see the backyard...we were glad they liked it.

View of the large tipi.

My favorite from this year.

The bear / wolf scaring a girl.
Video Clips (these are large files so they will take a while to download - you will be able to hear the indian war chants and the bear attack audio in these clips!)
